“THE FORCES OF NATURE” COLLECTION

A gemstone is a naturally occurring material desirable for its beauty, valuable in its rarity, and sufficiently durable to give lasting pleasure. It is gestated in the core of the different earth’s crusts and it is cured to perfection with the influence of the various phenomena of rain, scorching sun, winds, passage of water, erosion, drought and others, manipulating essence of the gem that the earth will engorge.

  “…AND THE VOLCANO ROARED”

Turquoise, sterling silver findings, silver wire, Bali Clasps.

Turquoise   forms by the action of percolating acidic aqueous solutions during the weathering and oxidation of pre-existing minerals. Climate factors appear to play an important role as turquoise is typically found in arid regions, filling or encrusting cavities and fractures in typically highly altered volcanic rocks, often with associated limonite and other iron oxides. In the American southwest turquoise is almost invariably associated with the weathering products.

         GEMSTONES THROUGH HISTORY

Eclipse Gemstones is a concept that came to life bearing EVE in mind. Early paintings portray her with a vine that twirls around her neck and continues to the rest of her body to embellish her, not to cover her bareness as some may think.

Women have adorned themselves from the beginning of times. Anthropologists have come to a common conclusion that human beings, especially women, are naturally (and probably even genetically) attracted to shiny objects.

In the need to create jewellery in an environment that was constantly changing, nomadic women used materials found in the different places they used as stopover. Stones were collected from the ground to use as adornments, and later on, as coins. Gemstones became a sort of currency and later on, the sign of status and wealth.

Jewellery has evolved and the more resources one has to dig deeper and break harder rocks, the more valuable and rare gemstones that surface.

I have used the fruits of the earth to create a product meant to enhance a woman’s self esteem. However, men are unequivocally mesmerized by the effect that wearing one of my creations, has on women.

       “THE CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE”

Blue Agate, sterling silver, silver wire. silver metal findings and pewter clasp.

Agate Most agates occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or ancient lavas where they represent cavities originally produced by the disengagement of volatiles in the molten mass which were then filled, wholly or partially, by siliceous matter deposited in regular layers upon the walls.  AGATE,  a fruit of the FORCES OF NATURE.

          “COSMOS AND OCEANS”

Cosmos Blue Goldstone, Abalone Pearls, Natural and cultured pearls, Sterling Silver, silver metal & Swarovsky clasp with amethysts.

Pearls gestated in the entrails of the oyster shells, protected, encased, encrusted within a hard shell created by columnar calcium carbonate and a yellowish to white outer zone consisting of nacre (tabular aragonite). Displaced living cells with a well-defined task may continue to perform their function in their new location, often resulting in a cyst. Such displacement may occur via an injury. The fragile rim of the shell is exposed and is prone to damage and injury. Crabs, other predators and parasites such as worm larvae may produce traumatic attacks and cause injuries in which some external mantle tissue cells are disconnected from their layer. Embedded in the conjunctive tissue of the mantle, these cells may survive and form a small pocket in which they continue to secrete their natural product: calcium carbonate. Hence, the future pearl.
